Saiyaara – Romance Rekindled, Box Office Roars
Ahaan Panday and Aneet Padda’s dreamy debut in Saiyaara, directed by Mohit Suri, has struck a powerful emotional chord with the audience. Backed by YRF, the film opened to glowing reviews and an explosive start at the box office.

Despite being newcomers, the fresh jodi’s chemistry and the film’s heartfelt music pushed Saiyaara to collect a strong ₹21 crore on Day 1, placing it among 2025’s top romantic openers. With advance bookings over ₹9.4 crore, packed night shows, and high footfalls in cities like Jaipur and Lucknow, the response exceeded early expectations.
According to industry sources, the Day 2 prediction stands around ₹24 crore, and trade experts suggest the film could breach the ₹50 crore mark by Saturday night. Digitally too, Saiyaara is already profitable—with ₹45 crore recovered via music, satellite, and digital rights, even before theatrical earnings.
Made on a reported ₹60 crore budget, it needs to cross ₹90 crore to be labelled a clean hit. If the current momentum holds, Saiyaara could even touch the ₹120–130 crore blockbuster bracket. The audience’s love for emotional storytelling, strong music, and nostalgic romance has found its way back to the big screen.
Tanvi The Great – A Gentle Film, A Quiet Start
Anupam Kher’s Tanvi the Great emotional directorial debut earned ₹40 lakh on Day 1, a soft opening despite decent promotions.

Made on a budget of ₹50 crore, the film stars Shubhangi Dutt as Tanvi Raina, a 21-year-old autistic girl who dreams of joining the Indian Army to fulfil her late father’s dream. The cast includes Anupam Kher, Pallavi Joshi, Iain Glen, and more—bringing strong performances and emotional depth.
The film received standing ovations at multiple international festivals, including Cannes, Houston, and New York, and was praised during military previews in India.
Released on 18 July 2025, the film now hopes for strong word-of-mouth as it competes with bigger commercial titles.
Nikita Roy – A Supernatural Misfire at the Box Office

Sonakshi Sinha returned to theatres with a serious role in Nikita Roy, a psychological thriller directed by her brother Kussh S. Sinha. Despite the build-up and a strong cast including Arjun Rampal and Paresh Rawal, the film struggled to attract an audience. It opened to a weak ₹15–23 lakh range on Day 1, falling far behind competing releases.
The story follows Nikita Roy—an investigator and sceptic—on a mission to expose a sinister cult leader linked to her brother’s mysterious death. Although the plot promised dark thrills and twisted revelations, the execution failed to resonate with the audience.
With a production and promotion budget of ₹25 crore, Nikita Roy needed solid box office momentum to survive. Unfortunately, it couldn’t hold ground against bigger competitors like Saiyaara and Tanvi The Great, both of which dominated screens and attention on July 18.
