Bollywood superstar Salman Khan is currently busy filming his upcoming movie “Battle of Galwan,” which has already begun shooting in Ladakh. On September 9, a photo of Salman on set was released, showing him in army uniform and sporting a mustache and, as expected, the photo spread like wildfire on social media. Directed by Apoorva Lakhia, the film is based on the actual events of June 15, 2020, when Indian and Chinese forces clashed in the Galwan Valley.

It was a violent melee in which not a single shot was fired. Armed only with sticks and homemade weapons, 200 Indian soldiers faced off against 1,200 Chinese soldiers. Twenty Indian soldiers were killed in the clash, including Colonel Bikkumalla Santosh Babu. About 45 Chinese soldiers were also killed. Salman Khan plays the role of Colonel Santosh Babu in this film, who was posthumously awarded the Maha Vir Chakra for his bravery.

The biggest news is that the producers have started filming the climax sequence of the film which is somewhat surprising, as filming only began on August 20. But why is the climax being shot now? The answer is simple: the weather in Ladakh! The weather here is very unpredictable and temperatures drop very quickly. For this reason, the producers want to shoot the most difficult and emotional scenes first so that the extreme cold conditions do not affect the quality of the filming. According to reports, the climax will be a direct fight scene in which several actors will perform intense action in a single shot. This shooting schedule is expected to be completed in the next two to three weeks.

More pictures from the set have also emerged, one shows a weapon with a wire that will be used in the climax. Salman himself has admitted that the shooting schedule in Ladakh is physically very demanding for him. The low-oxygen environment, the extreme climate, and shooting in cold water for seven days straight, it’s all very exhausting. Salman lost weight, followed a strict diet, and exercised regularly for his role. Interestingly, the producers originally planned to start filming in Mumbai, but Salman canceled this shoot at the last minute. He said that he was now in his best physical condition and that it would be right to shoot the action-packed scenes in Ladakh now, as the weather would otherwise deteriorate.

The filmmakers praised Salman, calling him “perfectly suited” for Colonel Santosh Babu role. They said that Salman’s characteristic intensity and emotional depth lend authenticity to the character of Colonel Babu. Apoorva Lakhia also said that this project is a heartfelt tribute to the country’s soldiers and that Salman’s presence takes it to a whole new level.

Alongside Salman, Chidrang Das Singh will also be seen in the film. Battle of Galwan is scheduled to hit theaters in 2026, but an exact date has not yet been announced. Given the patriotic theme, real-life background, and Salman Khan’s appearance as a war hero, it seems that this film will be one of the biggest releases of 2026.
