How Aryan Khan Web Series Bads of Bollywood Revived Aanya Singh’s Career After YRF’s Big Setback

Aryan Khan web series Bads of Bollywood not only marks his much-awaited Netflix debut but also revives Aanya Singh’s career after years of YRF setbacks.

Aryan Khan’s debut web series Bads of Bollywood has not only made headlines for its star cast but also given a long-overdue spotlight to actress Aanya Singh. While many online users are mistaking the show as her debut, the truth is that Aanya has been around in the industry for more than a decade with a career full of missed chances, shelved films, and small roles that finally led her to this breakthrough.

Aanya Singh’s career began in 2013 with Bajate Raho, but her big break came when YRF’s casting director Shanu Sharma discovered her in Delhi. Reportedly, Aditya Chopra was looking for “the next big face” after Ranveer Singh and Anushka Sharma, and Aanya was signed for a three-film deal with YRF.
Her first lead role came in 2017 opposite Aadar Jain in Qaidi Band. But the film tanked at the box office, and YRF quickly shelved her remaining two films — a huge setback for the young actress.

Post-YRF, Aanya tried her luck in Telugu cinema (Neevevaro, Neenu Vidani Nidnu Nene) but success didn’t follow. After this Anya singh shifted towards OTT, appearing in Never Kiss Your Best Friend (2020) with Nakuul Mehta, and later in Kho Gaye Hum Kahan and Stree 2. Though her roles were small and audiences noticed her screen presence also.
Interestingly, Stree 2 (2024) became a ₹600 crore blockbuster, and even Aanya’s short role as Aparshakti Khurana’s girlfriend “Chitti” was widely discussed.

Finally, Netflix’s Bads of Bollywood (released 18th September) has turned the tide. Playing Sanya, manager of Lakshya Lalwani’s character Asman Singh, Aanya has received massive love from audience. Many even linked her character to Shah Rukh Khan’s real-life manager Pooja Dadlani, sparking fun theories online.

The series boasts cameos from Shah Rukh Khan, Salman Khan, Aamir Khan, Rajkummar Rao, Ranveer Singh, Ranbir Kapoor, SS Rajamouli, and more making it one of the most talked-about OTT web series in 2025. Alongside Aryan, the show features fabulous lead cast Lakshya Lalwani, Raghav Juyal, Bobby Deol, Mona Singh, and Manoj Pahwa.
