Kantara Chapter 1 trailer brings back Rishab Shetty’s magic with a grand 125 crore prequel that blends devotion, culture, and epic storytelling, set to release on October 2, 2025

When Kantara was released in 2022, no one expected that a film produced with a budget of only 16 crore would gross over 400 crore worldwide. It proved that authentic content, culture, and storytelling can beat even films with big stars. The film’s climax was so impressive that people were shocked and called Rishab Shetty’s performance a divine experience. Now, the makers are back with Kantara Chapter 1 actually a prequel, i.e., the backstory to Part 1 of the story.
This time, the scale is even bigger. The budget is around 125 crore, but the costs have already been recouped through OTT rights. Amazon Prime Video has bought the film for 125 crore for all languages. This means that everything taken at the box office is pure profit. It is one of the most expensive films in Kannada cinema and even bigger in scope than KGF 2.
As for the trailer, what is most impressive is the balance between raw authenticity and grandeur. Instead of elaborate special effects, the filmmakers have used real jungles, real people, and real culture. Nevertheless, the visual effects were created by the same companies that worked on Percy Jackson, Aquaman, The Boys, and Mufasa. Therefore, the quality appears to be on par with international standards. The lion scene, the frontal shot of the tiger, thousands of rats in the jungle, and the burning statue of Panjurli Dev—every frame is breathtaking.
The trailer highlights air, water, fire, and earth these four elements of nature giving the film a mythological aura. The story seems to focus on Shiva’s childhood and will tell why his father disappeared in the jungle. Incidentally, the word “Kantara” means “mysterious forest,” and this time the filmmakers link it directly to the legend. Symbolic images such as the depiction of the sun and moon at the royal court, the trident stone, and spices such as turmeric, cardamom, and black pepper show that the details are very profound.
A conflict arises when Rishab Shetty’s character falls in love with the princess, which the king of Kantara takes as an insult. This marks the beginning of a personal and political conflict that escalates into war. In the trailer, Rishab Shetty’s avatar appears wild and divine. His entrance scene is like wildfire, and the background music, filled with devotion, elevates the entire atmosphere.
In terms of acting performance, Rishab Shetty once again seems unstoppable. The expression in his eyes and his energy dominate the screen. Gulshan Devaraya is a masterstroke in the role of the villain his screen presence is already menacing. And Rukmini Vasanth has been treated like a real queen this time around, which is a significant improvement over the crude romantic approach of the first film.
What’s special about this is that the trailer doesn’t rely on the hype surrounding Part 1. Instead of repeating old scenes, the filmmakers present completely new images and a fresh story in which the past and present merge. Just as the really exciting scenes in the first film were not shown in the trailer, it seems that the filmmakers have kept everything secret again this time.
Overall, Kantara Chapter 1 appears to be a mixture of devotion, culture, raw action, and epic storytelling. The film will be released in theaters on October 2, 2025, the day of Dussehra and Gandhi Jayanti, so that it can also benefit from the holiday. And the best part – Rishab Shetty’s one-man army magic. If Part 1 shook up Indian cinema, then Chapter 1 will raise the bar even higher.
