Sardaar Ji 3 Trailer: Diljit Dosanjh's Ghostbuster Returns with Hania Aamir, But India Says NO!

Sardaar Ji 3 Trailer: Diljit’s Epic Return with Hania Aamir – India Sparks Controversy!
Diljit Dosanjh has dropped a ghostly bomb just days before release. The trailer for Sardaar Ji 3, released on 22 June 2025 via Diljit’s Instagram, confirms two big things: the return of Punjabi cinema’s most loved ghostbuster and the entry of Pakistani actress Hania Aamir into the franchise. But there’s a twist — the film is not releasing in India.
Yes, you read that right. Despite massive fan anticipation, Sardaar Ji 3 will be released overseas only on 27 June 2025. Indian fans trying to view the trailer on YouTube are met with the message: “The uploader has not made this video available in your country.” While the teaser and songs remain visible in India, the trailer has been geo-blocked — likely due to political tensions.
A Film Caught Between Art and Borders
The controversy began long before the trailer. After the Pahalgam terror attack in April 2025, which claimed several lives, nationalist voices grew louder. Organisations like FWICE (Federation of Western India Cine Employees) and BJP Chitrapat Kamgar Aghadi openly demanded a ban on films featuring Pakistani actors, including Sardaar Ji 3. They urged the CBFC to deny the film certification altogether.
When Diljit unveiled the trailer with the caption —
“Sardaar Ji 3 Releasing 27th June OVERSEAS Only. FADH LAO BHOOND DIAN LATTAN” —
He made it clear that the film would skip Indian theatres and head straight to international screens in countries like Canada, the UK, the UAE, and the US.
Hania Aamir, who plays a lead role opposite Diljit in this horror-comedy set in a spooky UK mansion, became the centre of the storm. Rumours had earlier suggested that she was dropped from the film due to backlash. But her whole appearance in the trailer quashed those claims. Instead, her role intensified criticism, especially after reports alleged that she made controversial comments following India’s Operation Sindoor — a military retaliation launched after the Pahalgam attack.
Adding to the friction, Hania Aamir’s Instagram profile has reportedly been blocked in India, and the trailer remains unavailable on YouTube in India.
The Sardaar Ji series began in 2015 and carved a niche for itself with its mix of fantasy, horror, and comedy. This third part, directed by Amar Hundal and produced by White Hill Studios, features a ghost-fighting team led by Diljit, with Neeru Bajwa, Gulshan Grover, Manav Vij, and Jasmin Bajwa completing the cast. But what was meant to be a fun, crowd-pleasing return has instead become a lightning rod for political and cultural tension.
Online reactions are sharply divided. Many Punjabi cinema fans abroad are excited about the new pairing and the fresh energy it brings. But within India, some social media users accused Diljit of “ignoring the nation’s sentiment.” One user commented,
“I was excited about this movie, but now not anymore. The nation always comes first.”
Another wrote, “I love Diljit’s work, but I love my country more.”
With just 3 days left till release, Sardaar Ji 3 stands at the centre of a cross-border storm — a film about ghosts now haunted by geopolitics.
